Reports to: Foreman/ Superintendent

Supervisory Responsibility:

This role has no supervisory responsibilities.

Position Overview:

The Electrical Apprentice assists in the installation, maintenance, repair, and testing of commercial and industrial electrical systems. This position is responsible for learning the electrical trade through hands-on experience, classroom instruction and on-the-job training while performing work safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards and applicable electrical codes.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities

• Assists with the installation of conduit, wiring. Lighting, switchgear, panelboards, and other electrical equipment.

• Pull wire, install supports, and perform material handling duties.

• Operate hand tools and power tools under supervision.

• Read and interpret basic construction drawings and electrical plans as experience permits.

• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.

• Follow instructions provided by Foreman and Journeyman Electricians.

• Learn and apply National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements

• Wear required personal protective equipment and comply with all safety policies.

• Attend required apprenticeship training and complete coursework and maintain ET card.

• Safely use ladders, lifts, and construction equipment as trained.

• Assist with testing, troubleshooting and project closeout activities.

• Maintain tools, equipment, and company property.

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• Ability to get to and from work and travel between jobs as necessary.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Enrollment in or willingness to enroll in a state approved electrical apprenticeship program (Reimbursed by Elson)

• Basic mechanical aptitude and interest in the electrical trade

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions

• Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn

• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

• Valid California Drivers License

Work Schedule

Monday through Friday, generally 40 hours per week. Overtime, weekends, and varying start times may be required based on project needs.

Required Travel

Regular travel to jobsites throughout the East Bay and Northern California

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb scaffolding and ladders, work at heights, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, work outdoors in varying weather conditions, safely navigate active construction sites, and wear required personal protective equipment
