Location: Walnut Creek, CA
Reports To: Project Manager/ Project Executive
Supervisory Responsibilities
Provides direct supervision and leadership to Foreman, journeyman electricians, apprentices, temporary employees, and subcontractors assigned to the project site. Responsible for workforce planning, daily work assignments, coaching, performance feedback, and ensuring compliance with company safety and quality standards.
Position Overview
The superintendent is responsible for the day-to-day field management of commercial and industrial electrical construction projects. This position ensures projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with project specifications and company quality standards. The superintendent serves as the primary field leader, coordinating labor, subcontractors, materials, equipment, and project activities while maintaining effective communication with Project Managers, clients, inspectors and trade partners.
Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities
• Direct all field operations on assigned electrical construction projects
• Plan, coordinate, and supervise daily work activities of field personnel
• Develop and maintain short term and long term project schedules
• Coordinate manpower, equipment, materials, and subcontractor activities
• Ensure all work complies with project plans, specifications, codes, and company quality standards
• Promote and enforce OSHA regulations and company safety policies
• Conduct daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and site inspections
• Monitor labor productivity and recommend staffing adjustments as needed
• Coordinate inspections and maintain relationships with clients, owners, and inspectors
• Review drawings with Project Managers to identify schedule impacts, budget concerns, and change order opportunities
• Maintain daily reports, production logs and project documentation
• Mentor and develop Foremen and field personnel
• Resolve field issues promptly while minimizing project delays
• Support project closeout activities and punch list completion
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Minimum 7 years of commercial or industrial electrical construction experience with progressive field leadership responsibilities
• Extensive knowledge of NEC, OSHA regulations, and commercial electrical construction practices
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction schedules
• Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and conflict-resolution skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced construction environment
• Proficient with construction technology, tablets, and Microsoft Office
• OSHA 30 certification preferred
• Valid California drivers license
Work Schedule
Monday through Friday, generally 40+ hours per week. Overtime, early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays may be required based on project schedules
Required Travel
Frequent travel between project sites throughout Northern California. Occasional overnight travel may be required.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders and scaffolding, work at heights, bend, kneel, crouch, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, work outdoors in varying weather conditions, wear required personal protective equipment, and safely navigate active construction sites
