Report To: Warehouse Manager/ Operations Manager
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no supervisory responsibilities
Position Overview
The driver is responsible for the safe, timely, and accurate transportation of materials, tools, equipment, and supplies between Elson Electric facilities, vendors, and project sites. The driver plays a critical role in supporting field operations by ensuring deliveries are completed efficiently, maintaining vehicle safety, and providing excellent customer service while representing the company professionally.
Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities
• Safely operate company vehicles in accordance with all federal, state, and local traffic laws
• Deliver and pick up materials, tools, equipment, and supplies from vendors, warehouses, and project sites
• Load, unload, secure, and inspect materials to prevent damage during transport
• Verify delivery paperwork, packing slips, purchase orders and inventory documentation
• Perform routine vehicle inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns immediately
• Maintain accurate delivery logs, mileage records, and required documentation
• Assist with warehouse organization, inventory, staging, and material handling as needed
• Coordinate delivery schedules with warehouse staff, project managers, and field personnel
• Provide courteous and professional customer service to vendors and jobsite personnel
• Maintain a clean and organized vehicle and work area
• Comply with company safety policies and OSHA requirements
• Perform other related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Minimum 2 years of professional driving experience preferred
• Valid California drivers license with a clean driving record required
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and safe driving practices preferred
• Ability to safely operate pickup trucks, flatbeds, trailers, and forklifts (training provided if applicable)
• Strong organizations and time management skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with employees, vendors, and customers
• Basic computer or mobile device skills for delivery tracking
Work Schedule
Monday through Friday, generally 40 hours per week. Overtime, early mornings, evenings, or weekends may be required based on business needs.
Required Travel
Frequent travel throughout Northern California to company facilities, vendors, and customer project sites
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit for extended periods while driving, stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb in and out of vehicles, lift and carry up to 75 pounds, safely load and unload materials, operate forklifts or pallet jacks as authorized, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions while wearing required personal protective equipment
